Christ Church Cathedral in Christchurch City, NZ, can be saved according to experts. The Anglican Church just wants to demolish it, albeit with TLC. This is good news for old Cantabrians like myself.
I've been shedding a quiet tear for my old home town for a couple of years now.The city waits for the insurance companies to release the finance for the mult-billion dollar rebuild. The after-shocks have slowed to a minimum; the heaviest earthquakes have been in the North Island in recent weeks.

Not to worry. The old girl is definately savable and could well be "in business" in 4 or 5 years time. Indeed, the bell tower could be up and the bells ringing on the third anniversary of the Quake. Check it out: www.thePeoplesSteeple.org. Courage, Canterbury, COURAGE!!!!
